We always struggle to decide if it is the letter of the Law or the Spirit of the Law that should guide us.  Jesus respects the Sabbath and honors it but he also violates community standards for it.  What are we to make of this?

Nicodemus comes to Jesus wanting an answer to the question "How."  How can one be born again? How can I get into heaven.  How can I believe?  Jesus answers his question with a birth story.  It is not about what you doctrine your hold.  It is not about what works you perform.  It is about your willingness and vulnerability to be born.  You can't birth yourself.  Only the author of life can give you birth from above.  Embrace what you have already been given.

On Pentecost the Spirit empowered apostles to speak in different languages and the people to hear in their own language.  The ministry of Central Presbyterian Church and its building have changed since it was first built to serve a large congregation.  Today a building that once provided shelter for primarily church services, Bible Study, and fellowship groups now provides a home for the homeless, those who are alienated, and those with special needs.  We are about to remodel the building to reflect the welcome and hospitality of Christ to our community and church.  This morning you will hear about that project.
